It's Saturday at 7:15 AM. The bus to the invitational leaves at 7:30 sharp. Three athletes aren't here. One parent calls: "What time was the bus again?" Another thought the meet was at home. The third confused this Saturday's meet with next Saturday's. You can't hold the bus for 48 kids because three families lost track of the schedule.
Your team has a dual meet on Tuesday and a multi-team invitational on Saturday. Practice schedule changes the week of an invitational — no practice Monday and Thursday, light workout Wednesday. You tell the team at Friday's practice. Half the throwers show up Monday anyway because they left before the announcement.
Event entries for Saturday's meet were due by Wednesday. You emailed the entry form last week. Four athletes never turned in their event preferences because they didn't see the email. Now you're guessing who wants to run the 800 and who signed up for long jump, and the entry deadline was ten minutes ago.

Here's what track and field teams typically put on their shared calendar:
What this looks like in practice
Coach Williams enters the spring season into iCalFeed the week before preseason conditioning starts. Dual meets on Tuesdays, invitationals on Saturdays. Each meet event has the location, bus departure time, and approximate return time. He adds event entry deadlines as separate events two days before each meet. He texts the subscribe link to 55 athletes and posts it on the locker room bulletin board. Setup: 40 minutes.
Tyler is a junior who runs the 400 and does long jump. He checks his phone on Monday. Wednesday: light practice, 3:30 PM, track. Thursday: no practice (meet tomorrow). Friday: dual meet at Roosevelt HS — bus leaves at 2:15 PM from the back lot. He also sees an event entry deadline for Saturday's invitational — entries due by Wednesday at noon. He texts Coach Williams his events before he forgets.
On Thursday morning, the host school for Saturday's invitational sends an update — the meet is pushed back an hour due to a facility conflict. Bus departure moves from 7:30 to 8:30. Coach Williams updates the event in iCalFeed. By Thursday evening, every athlete's phone shows the new bus time. Nobody shows up at 7:30 to wait around for an hour.
How iCalFeed compares
vs. Announcements at the end of practice
Half the team is already jogging back to the locker room. The shot putters are at the throwing circle and didn't hear anything.
Meet details and schedule changes are on every phone. Athletes and parents see them whether they heard the announcement or not.
vs. Team group texts
Bus departure time lost in a thread of 50 messages about uniform numbers, relay leg assignments, and "Who has the hurdles key?"
Bus time, meet location, and details in one calendar event. Tap it and see everything.
vs. Printed season schedule on the locker room wall
Doesn't include bus times, entry deadlines, or the two meets that got rescheduled due to weather.
Always current. Schedule changes, new meets, and bus time updates appear on every phone.
vs. Athletic department website
Lists the dates but not the bus times, not the entry deadlines, and not the practice adjustments before big meets.
Your team calendar has everything — meet info, bus times, deadlines, practice changes. All in one place.
