It's 5:45 AM on a Sunday. Your Squirts game is at 6:30 at the Civic Center rink — not the usual rink at Northfield Arena. You posted the rink change in the team app on Wednesday. A family of four drives 20 minutes to Northfield, geared up and ready. They get there, rink is empty. They call you from the parking lot while you're doing warmup drills at Civic Center.
Ice time is expensive, and the rink shuffles your practice slot every few weeks based on availability. This week you're on Monday at 7:15 PM. Next week it's Wednesday at 8:30 PM. The week after that it's back to Monday at 6:00 PM. Even you can barely keep track, and you're the coach. Parents have given up trying.
Your team makes the holiday tournament. Games are Friday at 4:00 PM, Saturday at 8:00 AM if you win, and Sunday TBD based on the bracket. You email the schedule Thursday night. Two families booked flights home Saturday morning because they didn't know about the second game. Your starting goalie is on a plane to Phoenix.

Here's what hockey teams and leagues typically put on their shared calendar:
What this looks like in practice
Coach Mike enters the winter schedule into iCalFeed the first week of November. Home games at Northfield Arena, away games at four different rinks across the metro. Practice ice rotates — this month it's Monday at 7:15 PM, next month it moves to Wednesday at 8:00 PM. He adds the holiday tournament block and the team photo date. He texts the subscribe link to 18 families. Setup: 35 minutes.
Stephanie is a hockey mom whose 11-year-old plays Peewee. She opens her phone Sunday night to plan the week. Monday: practice at 7:15 PM, Northfield Arena, Locker Room 3. Saturday: game at 9:00 AM, Riverview Ice Complex — arrive by 8:15 for warmups. It's right there in her calendar. She sets her Saturday alarm for 7:00 AM. No scrolling through texts. No calling the team manager.
On Thursday, the rink calls — the Zamboni is broken and Saturday's ice slot is cancelled. Coach Mike moves practice to Sunday at 3:00 PM at the backup rink across town. He updates the event in iCalFeed with the new day, time, and rink address. By Friday morning, every family's phone shows Sunday at Civic Center instead of Saturday at Northfield. No chain of panicked texts at 6 AM on a dark Saturday morning.
How iCalFeed compares
vs. Team management apps (TeamSnap, SportsEngine)
Parents download it during registration, disable notifications by October, and forget the login by December.
Events appear in the calendar they already check every day. No extra app, no login, no notifications to manage.
vs. Group texts
Rink change buried under 25 messages about carpool, snacks, and who's bringing the puck bucket.
The rink address is in the calendar event. Tap it, get directions. No scrolling.
vs. Rink website schedule
Shows the ice slot but not which teams are on it. And it's wrong half the time because the rink updates it late.
Your team calendar shows your games and practices — with the right rink, the right time, and the right locker room.
vs. Email from the league
The master schedule PDF has every team's games in 8-point font. Finding your kid's Squirts schedule requires a magnifying glass and 15 minutes.
Only your team's games on your phone. Clean, readable, and always current.
